The new global pandemic of “art and information overload” that has suddenly emerged has resulted in unprecedented rates of anxiety, depression, and suicide among our children and adults alike, as recent studies reveal.

This documentary film reveals how the elements of art and tattoos — including colors, shapes, symbols, words, and proximity to the images — now affect our relationships, finances, moods, and health in even deeper ways.

A new film by Cary Weldy

The Science of Ink tells the untold story of one of the biggest pandemics and crises we now face: How our art and information overload is creating unprecedented levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and soaring rates of suicide, especially among our children. My goal is to create one of the most engaging, entertaining, and informative films ever that provides lots of tips about how everyone can use the elements of art — including colors, shapes, images, symbols, and music, to positively impact their relationships, finances, moods, and health!”

Why this film is important

The Science of Ink is a groundbreaking experience for both the inked enthusiast and non-tattooed person alike. This will be the first documentary feature film to explore how art around us influences our reality — especially in our new electronic, media-driven world now in the palms of our hands. The number of words and images that we absorb and process each day has skyrocketed over the past 25 years, resulting in new, significant challenges such as increasing rates of loneliness, escalating stress, anxiety, and depression, and soaring cases of bullying, self-bullying, violence, and teen suicide.

The Science of Ink identifies disturbing statistics about how our art is profoundly affecting our children and us adults alike. The film reveals new research about how colors, shapes, symbols, lines, and other elements of art on our TV screens, handheld devices, clothing, tattooed bodies, and walls at home and work impact our relationships, finances, mood, and health — telling a unique, engaging story that has not yet been told.

Finally, The Science of Ink illustrates how the elements of art can be used for healing and positive outcomes. Discover which colors, shapes, symbols, and images can cultivate more harmonious relationships, elevate mood, increase income, and build your health, stamina, and vitality.

“In the age of technology, there is constant access to vast amounts of information. The basket overflows; people get overwhelmed; the eye of the storm is not so much what goes on in the world, it is the confusion of how to think, feel, digest, and react to what goes on.”

— Criss Jami, American poet and essayist
